RECIPE FROM "SANDY'S
Old Fashioned Tomato Gravy
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 finely chopped green pepper
1 tablespoon oil (or drippings from frying meat)
2 teaspoons flour
8 oz. chopped undrained tomatoes
1/8 teaspoon pepper or to taste
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon sugar
Cook onion and green pepper in oil in a saucepan over med. heat, stirring constantly.
Add flour and stir until smooth.
Cook 1 minute more, stirring continuously.
Add tomatoes and last 4 ingredients.
Bring to a boil, stirring all the time.
Remove from heat.
Sandy's Note: This is delicious over meatloaf. You can also make it with sausage drippings, add a little broken up sausage, and it makes a great gravy for breakfast.
