RECIPE FROM "SANDY'S
Deep-Dish Hamburger Pie
2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup milk
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 (8 ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
1 (14-1/2 ounce) can Italian-style tomatoes, drained
1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (14-1/2 ounce) can French-style green beans, drained
2 teaspoons lemon pepper
Stir together Bisquick, milk, and 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. Turn dough out onto a surface sprinkled with Bisquick.
Shape into a ball and knead 3 or 4 times.
Press dough evenly into the bottom, and 1 inch up on sides, of a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
Bake at 450 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes.
Cook beef, onion, and mushrooms in a large skillet until beef is just browned, stirring until it crumbles; drain well.
Stir in tomatoes and next 3 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Spoon over biscuit crust.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup cheese and bake 5 more minutes.
