RECIPE FROM "SANDY'S
Basic Barbecue Sauce
2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon favorite red hot pepper sauce
1 tablespoon favorite barbecue rub
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
In a nonreactive saucepan whisk together all the ingredients and slowly bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the sauce until thick and richly flavored, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Cool and store in the refrigerator.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups
